Description: RN Progressive Care Unit *Relocation Bonus*
DEPARTMENT SUMMARY: We are expanding our services to support our growing community by opening additional beds on the Progressive Care Unit. The Progressive Care Unit is a unified, culturally inclusive team of professionals motivated to provide quality care by focusing on continual process improvement through respectful collaboration. We help our patients achieve the highest quality outcomes by fostering a culture committed to integrity, compassion and positivity. By joining this team you would care for a variety of Medical Step Down patients to include but not limited to: stable mechanical ventilator support via tracheostomy; vasoactive drug infusions; continuous and/or bolus of antiarrhythmic intravenous medication; ETOH and precedex management, and trauma patients. This unit also follows an evidenced based acuity adaptable model to allow the improved change in the patient's condition to reside on the unit from admission to discharge.

POSITION OVERVIEW: The RN provides quality patient and family centered care as a member of the health care team in accordance with St. Charles Health System mission, philosophy, policies, and procedures. Applies standards for professional nursing practice and focuses clinical care to enhance the experience for patients, families, and all others. As a nurse, this position will oversee the work of other caregivers, providing specific care to assigned patient(s) throughout the shift, as required under the scope of the RN licensure.


Maintains and demonstrates an in-depth knowledge of nursing principles, practices, standards, and techniques and applies this knowledge in accordance with St. Charles Health System policies and procedures and within laws and regulations governing nursing practice in the State of Oregon.

Assesses the patientís condition and needs using critical thinking and clinical judgment: sets outcomes; implements appropriate nursing actions and collaborates with other disciplines to meet the patientís/familyís physical, emotional, spiritual, social, and intellectual needs; and evaluates patientís progress.

Calculates dosages and administers medications accurately in accordance with St. Charles Health System policies and procedures for medication administration.

Documents all patient care with proficiency in compliance with hospital policies, procedures and regulatory agencies.

Demonstrates awareness of and supports St. Charles departmental and operating unit goals through participation in continuous quality improvement and departmental activities.

Communicates (both written and orally) effectively and maintains professional relationships with caregivers, medical staff, patients, and guests.

Identifies work-related problems with possible solutions and implements solution(s) within scope of practice, as appropriate.

Qualifications: EDUCATION

Required: As required by RN licensure.
Preferred: BSN


Required: Current Oregon RN license.
AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider certification.
Basic EKG course.
12 Lead EKG course within 90 days of hire.
TNCC certification within 12 months of hire. Will then be required to maintain a minimum of 16 hours of trauma education every 4 years or continue TNCC certification.
Code Grey training within 12 months of hire
Preferred: Department specific acute care certification (i.e. CCRN, PCCN, CEN)


Required: One year Progressive Care Unit, Step Down or Intensive Care Unit experience within five years.
Preferred: Department specific acute care experience.
