1. As a Staff RN assigned to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), the nurse is primarily responsible for applying the nursing process to the care of veteran patients admitted to the ICU section of the VA Ann Arbor Healthcare System. This includes, but is not limited to assuring that appropriate documentation reflects assessment of patient needs, interdisciplinary treatment plans, clinical interventions, and evaluation of patients' responses to treatments. In addition, the nurse delivers fundamental, knowledge-based care to adult and geriatric patients while developing technical competence in accordance with the Michigan Nurse Practice Act, Medical Center, and VAHQ standards of practice. The incumbent provides direct nursing care to individual and groups of patients under the guidance and direction of the Unit/Nurse Manager.

2. The Unit Based Nurse Educator is a registered professional nurse who provides formal/informal/virtual instruction for clinicians, support staff, patients and families. The Unit Based Nurse Educator collaborates with multiple disciplines in the assessment, planning, organization, implementation and evaluation of an effective program including orientation, continuing education and in-services. The Nurse Educator establishes effective relationships with all Nursing Service personnel, and serves as a liaison. The Nurse Educator is a role model in demonstrating excellence in practice, serves as a clinical mentor/preceptor for clinical and administrative staff, consults and collaborates in patient care and research, and educates in both formal and informal situations. The Nurse Educator demonstrates leadership in delivering and improving holistic care through collaborative strategies with others.

Qualifications: Preferred Experience: 2-3 years of Intensive Care (ICU) experience. BSN and CCRN preferred.
