Description: Critical Care/Cardiac Nurse Educator
The Nurse Educator, Critical Care is responsible for designing, implementing, evaluating and revising continuing education programs for the nursing staff. This role develops and monitors orientation, initial and ongoing competency assessment, clinical support, classroom instruction and in services to enhance clinical competence and the attainment of standards of care. The critical care educator will collaborate with members of the interdisciplinary team to achieve the hospital's strategic objectives and mission. This role reports to the WCHN Administrative Director of Nursing Professional Practice and Education.

Position type: Full-time

Qualifications: This position requires a minimum of a formal education of a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). Minimum of 3 years job related, critical care and open heart experience. Experience with Cerner Clinical and electronic health record technology a plus. Three to five years of clinical, job related experience in education within a healthcare delivery system. Hours: 40 control hours.
• Nursing leadership experience.
• Knowledge of regulatory requirements.
• Excellent communication skills, computer skills including word and PowerPoint.
• Knowledge of adult learning principle.
• Ability to insure that educational activities are implemented and evaluated.
