Summary:
This position is responsible for the direct and indirect nursing care of the unit patient. This position requires knowledge of departmental and hospital policies relevant to the delivery of nursing care. Interpretive skills, frequent interactive and consultive associations are inherent in this position.

Provides cardiac nursing and medical surgical care for adult and geriatric patients requiring continuous cardiac monitoring and intermediary care. This population includes patients requiring or having previously had surgery, Heart Failure, cardiovascular disease including: Chest pain R/O MI criteria, pre and post -cardiac catherization, COPD, Respiratory issues, Stroke and TIA.

The nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation is followed as the framework of care to direct the following activities such as:

Continuous cardiac monitoring with dysrhythmia interpretation.
Medication delivery and pharmacological interventions including intravenous vasoactive and some antiarrhythmic drugs and anticoagulation therapy.
Blood and blood products administration.
Facilitates, implements, and evaluates the Patient Plan of Care and outcomes. Collaborates with the health care team to promote positive patient outcomes. Is seen as a patient advocate. Timely implementation of nursing interventions. Technical Skills: demonstrates appropriate clinical skills and technical competence in providing patient care. Critical Thinking: demonstrates appropriate clinical judgment. Assesses, analyzes and communicates patient information in a timely manner. Documentation: Accurately and promptly documents all patient assessments, interventions, responses and provider communication. Assess patient safety risk factors and identifies those patients requiring specific safety interventions including skin integrity, fall risk & appropriate use of restraints. Follows medication safety policy. Promptly initiates appropriate interventions for safety needs. Completes Safety Tracking Tools as required. Delegation and supervision: supervises assigned staff, delegates appropriately, takes responsibility for all care provided to patients assigned.
