Description: RN, Nurse Practitioners
We have exciting RN opportunities available at MemorialCare Saddleback Medical Center. These positions are responsible for providing clinical leadership and expertise in the delivery of patient care for critically ill patients that require care in the Intensive Care Unit.

• RN, Nurse Practitioner - ICU (Part Time Nights)

• RN, Nurse Practitioner - ICU - Per Diem Days

Position type: Full-time & Part-time

Qualifications: Responsibilities:
• Demonstrates advanced knowledge and skill in diagnosis, management, and evaluation of actual or potential needs of patients and families with critical illnesses.
• Obtains patient health histories and complete physical examinations and documents findings in accordance with organizational requirements.
• Assess patients for change in status and institutes appropriate interventions, including initiation of necessary emergency interventions and consultation with supervising physician.
• Transmits orders and interprets appropriate diagnostic and laboratory tests; communicating the rationale, preparation, and anticipated risks and benefits of the procedure(s) to patient’s family, staff, and other healthcare staff.
• Member of the Rapid Response and Code Blue Teams.
• Initiates cardiopulmonary resuscitation and cardiac massage; airway management including bag and mask ventilation, endotracheal intubation and extubation, endotracheal tube repositioning; ventilator management, orders administration of life support medications and defibrillation according to Advance Cardiac Life Support standards.
• Under physician direction and the Critical Care Medicine Nurse Practitioner-Standardized Procedure may perform the following procedures: /manage arterial catheters and central venous catheters, manage ventilator settings, remove chest tubes, and other procedures appropriate within an ICU environment.
• Demonstrates knowledge of current research and evidenced-base decision-making in all clinical practice.
• Provides patient/family centered care by communicating with the patient/family regarding the changing health care needs of the patient.
• Addresses the age specific competencies of the population served.
